Harry Potter & the Wizarding World: Questions, part 2

I often think about Harry Potter and other wizards and how they go about daily life. Here is part two of a list of questions I wonder about wizards:

  • Do wizards have any further insight into dinosaurs? Do they know more than we do?
  • Would a wizard use a cell phone? Owls seem really archaic. If so, would they prefer iPhones or Androids?
  • Do wizards ever mow the lawn?
  • Do wizards have brooms that would be just for sweeping? Like “no, broom, I don’t want to fly right now. I just need to clean.”
  • How does wizard money convert to muggle money? Are all wizards really rich in the muggle world? Or really poor?
  • What is a wizard’s stance on magicians?
  • Are wizards concerned about brands of clothing? Do they have favorite shops?
  • Do wizards read muggle books?
  • Do wizards ever go for fast food? Has Dumbledore ever led off a feast with “Thank you for joining us for this meal! Tonight: McDonalds!” and they open up the dishes and it’s just Big Macs?
  • What do wizards think of the current college football post-season system?
  • Related, what do Hogwarts residents think of the idea of an NFL team in London?
  • Do wizards tailgate for Quiddich? For anything?
  • Do wizards watch muggle TV? Man, there are some good shows on.
  • Are wizards contributing to global warming? That big bubble shield they threw up was pretty suspicious. They can’t just do that willy-nilly right?
  • What’s a wizard’s favorite pizza?
  • What’s a wizard’s favorite beer? They can’t drink butterbeer all the time, right?
  • Do wizards like the Washington Wizards? The Orlando Magic?

Passion Pit, ‘Gossamer’

Passion Pit, 'Gossamer'

Passion Pit is a band I credit myself with discovering (see also: The Script). Long story short, as a freshman in college, paying for music wasn’t a real possibility (being poor). To get music, I would steal borrow it from friends, or download where I could (legally, campus internets aren’t the place to be a pirate). Places that offer credit for signing up - with the long-term intent of making you pay - were a great place for music. Through one of these sites, eMusic, was one such site (still a great place for new music, for those so inclined). There was Passion Pit’s EP and only music, a six-track record highlighted by the still fantastic “Sleepyhead.” The track’s unusual sound and high-pitched vocals were something that was truly unique. I was happy to see they were successful enough for their first full-length album, ‘Manners,’ which is terrific.

All that said, Passion Pit’s second album, ‘Gossamer,’ is due for release July 24th. This will easily be my most anticipated album of the year. Give it a listen here.

To the people…

…who always ask for summer: why?!? Do you like being sweaty all the time??

Sincerely,

Ethan, sweaty all the time.

Astros catcher Chris Snyder is a pretty girl.

PS: I know it’s for signals. Still, did he do them himself? Or go to the salon?
